Introduced in late 2005 retailing at $499 & up, this Color A4 size laser printer, prints up to 20PPM (19PMM A4 size) at 1200x1200 dpi.

This NEW Lexmark® engine technology has a vertical tandem engine using 4 individual BK/C/M/Y toner cartridges and 4 separate Photoconductor units located on the printer door, other replacement parts are the Transfer belt and Fuser unit.

Uninet R&D comments that while this Lexmark engine type might look like an HP® or Canon® engine at first, you will find upon opening the printer or cartridges, some striking differences with the separate toner, drum unit and waste toner containers.

Toner cartridges BK/C/M/Y installed in the printer are rated at 1,500 pages (OEM suggested retail $79 & up, replacement cartridges are available at 4,000 pages (OEM suggested selling price $105 for Black and $115.00 for C/M/Y. All toner cartridges are chipped and offered with Return and NO-Return programs from Lexmark®.

Photoconductor units look like they are part of the printer since they are installed in the printer door, photoconductor units “universal” for all colors rated at 20,000 pages and sold at a surprisingly low price of $31.00 and $115 for a 4-pack. Although Photoconductor units have no chip the OPC drum diameter is 23mm what it will probably delay the development of this replacement part.

Uninet R&D has been developing replacement products for these cartridges and are now releasing Absolute Color® toners for field test.

Monochrome MFP (Multifunction Plain Paper) use s a toner cartridge rated at (6,000 pages) and a separate drum unit rated at 12,000 pages.

According to Unine t R&D , the drum unit does not have a chip and can be recycled. The toner cartridge however, does ha ve a chip , but has not yet been determined if it is a locking device or not.
