Uninet R&D has approved Absolute Color® toners for use in these low-end color printers sold under $500.00 USD. While the printer has a similar outside shape to the CLP-500, 510, 550 models, the cartridges are different using four all-in-one type toner cartridge with OPC drum and chips. OEM toner cartridges are rated at 4,000 pages and the suggested retail price is US$99 for Black and US$139 for colors.
Engine and cartridge design is different to the previous models, which is why it took Uninet a bit longer to develop these products. Toner cartridge chips have a locking device and so far we have developed and tested them on US models. It is possible that European and Asian markets use a different chip, Uninet will be testing chips in these markets in the near future.
The new Smartchips (currently under development) will be specially-engineered for specific USA, European, Middle Eastern, African, and Latin American regions.
